Correction: Medicaid-Work Requirements story

AP

In a story published Dec. 17, 2025, about Nebraska implementing work requirements for Medicaid, The Associated Press misspelled the first name of former President Barack Obama. It erroneously reported that people who are homeless would be exempt from an expanded Medicaid work requirement and misreported the number of people the Congressional Budget Office estimates would become uninsured due to changes in Medicaid policies; it is 7.5 million through 2034. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services was misidentified as the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services. The story also misquoted that agency’s administrator, Mehmet Oz, who said “Most people who are able-bodied on Medicaid actually are trying to get a job,” not “Most people who are able-bodied on Medicaid actually want to get a job.”
