Mississippi State outlasts LSU 6-5 in 17 innings at 3 am

HOOVER, Ala. (AP) Gunner Halter hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 17th inning and Mississippi State beat LSU 6-5 in the longest game by time in Southeastern Conference Tournament history. Halter's two-out grounder up the middle scored Justin Foscue just after 3 a. m. CDT on Thursday morning to end the marathon after 6 hours, 43 minutes.
