Tips of the Day
Today
Reboot, reboot, reboot
If you like to leave your computer on at all times, remember to reboot it at least every two days. Even the most popular operating system develops problems after being on that long.

Yesterday
Look for Search Dialogs
Many sites, including this one, have search dialogs which allow you to search the site for any words you wish. For example, go to the top of this page, enter the word "modem" and select "This Site." Clicking on the "Search" button next to the search dialog will display all the pages on this site that have the word "modem" in them. If you can't find something you're looking for, look for a search dialog and give it a try!

Thursday
Dragging Links
Did you know that you can click and drag links on a web page to other browsers, and even your desktop? In many Windows browsers, you can click on a link, and while keeping the mouse button down, drag that link to another browser window to view the linked page in that browser. You can also create a desktop shortcut for that link by dragging to the desktop.

Wednesday
Downloading Files
Creating a single directory in which you download files with your browser will simplify the process of finding those files later. Create a directory called "Download" or "Modem" on an easily accessible location, and always download files to that directory. Placing a shortcut to that directory on your desktop makes it even easier to find once the file has arrived.

Tuesday
Keep Sticky Notes Handy
Keep a pad of those familiar yellow sticky notes next to your computer for jotting down URL's or other useful information you find online. Stick them to the bezel around your monitor for easy reference.

Monday
Past Tips & Destinations
Beneath the Tips of the Day and the Daily Destinations is a link that reads "View Recent ..." Selecting that link will display the tips/destinations for the last seven days.

Sunday
Watch that Caps-Lock Key
When sending E-Mail or participating in a chat room or discussion forum, don't type your messages in all caps. Doing so MAKES IT LOOK LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING and large amounts of such text are hard to read.

Saturday
DVD-ROM Drives Access Extra Content
Some movies being released on DVD are also coming with additional content available to computers with DVD-ROM drives.
